Protocols define scope and ensure the outcome of the inspection meets expectations. Each protocol has a fixed cost and are listed with each line item in an invoice.

Protocol Requirements
Wildfire
| Requirement | Description |
|---|---|
| Non-Combustible Zone | The area within 0-5 feet of the home and attached structures shall be free of all combustible materials, vegetation, and objects. |
| Ground Cover Near Structure | Ground cover in the 0-5 foot zone shall consist of non-combustible materials such as rock, gravel, concrete, or maintained lawn. |
| Grass and Weeds Height | Grass and weeds shall be maintained at a maximum height of 4 inches. |
| Leaf Litter and Debris Removal | Leaf litter, bark, twigs, and other debris shall not be present. |
| Tree Branch Distance | Tree branch ends shall be at least 5 feet away from structures. |
| Firewood Storage | Firewood, lumber, and other combustible materials shall not be present. |
| Roof Rating | Roof coverings shall be rated Class A and in good condition with no missing or damaged pieces. |
| Roof Debris | Roofs, gutters, and downspouts shall be free of accumulated debris. |
| Skylight Maintenance | Skylights shall not have accumulated debris on or next to them. |
| Vent Mesh | All vents shall be covered with 1/8-inch to 1/16-inch metal mesh. |
| Chimney Protection | Chimney and stovepipe outlets shall be covered with spark arrestors meeting NFPA 211 standards. |
| Siding Integrity | Siding and trim shall be in good condition with no damage, gaps, or holes. |
| Foundation Vent Protection | Foundation and crawl space vents shall be covered with 1/8-inch to 1/16-inch metal mesh. |
| Eave Construction | Open eave framing and exposed rafter tails shall not be present. |
| Window Construction | Windows shall be multi-paned with at least one pane being tempered glass. |
| Garage Door Gaps | Garage doors shall be free of gaps greater than 1/8-inch at edges and base. |
| Deck Condition | Decking boards shall be in good condition with no damage, warping, or gaps. |
| Under-Deck Maintenance | Areas under decks shall be free of combustible materials and debris. |
| Deck Connection | Deck attachments to the home shall be in good condition and properly flashed. |
| Address Marking | Address numbers shall be clearly visible from the street with numbers at least 4 inches high. |
| Driveway Clearance | Driveways shall maintain at least 13.5 feet of vertical clearance and 10 feet of horizontal clearance. |
| Tree Canopy Spacing | Tree canopies shall be spaced at least 10 feet apart. |
| Extended Zone Ground Cover | Ground cover shall be maintained to a maximum height of 4 inches. |
| Tree Height Management | Trees taller than 18 feet shall be limbed up 6 feet from the ground. |
| Extended Zone Vegetation | No dead vegetation shall be present within 30 feet of structures. |
| Enhanced Eave Protection | All eaves shall be enclosed with no exposed rafter tails. |
| Enhanced Vent Protection | All vents shall have ember-resistant features or baffles. |
| Gutter Protection | Gutters shall have non-combustible gutter guards installed. |
| Enhanced Deck Materials | Decking shall be constructed of non-combustible or fire-resistant materials. |
| Water Availability | Property shall have a reliable water supply for fire fighting. |
| Secondary Access | Secondary emergency vehicle access route shall be available where possible. |
